Summary: Gabriel's dead and Michael isn't too happy about that.

“SON OF A BITCH!” Dean yelled when a certain archangel appeared in the car next to him. It wasn’t Castiel, it wasn’t Raphael and it certainly wasn’t the deceased Gabriel and Lucifer no longer had that honor of being and archangel. So that only left…Michael. The Archangel was now using his father again as a vessel though the older, not younger version of him. Dean pulled over and looked to him.

“Where’s my dad? Why are you using his body, Michael? And where’s Sam?” He asked sharply. He didn’t … couldn’t bear looking at the angel that had wanted and still does want to use him as an angel condom.
“You father…Is in Heaven, Dean. I merely…reconstructed his body from the ashes you and Sam made it into.” Michael says calmly, but Dean somehow can sense a quiet despair around the archangel…

“Your brother is in the green room, he is safe…but you. I need you to do something for me,” Michael says in a quiet voice the mask of arrogance and indifference breaking away, showing concern and sadness that Dean hated to admit he’d seen too often on that face that was his father’s. Normally he would have said ‘No way in hell’ but…something was off, Michael had never shown anything more than arrogance and indifference before.

“Depends on what it is you want…if it’s to be your vessel, Hell no… but if it’s something else…I’ll listen…I can’t guarantee I’ll say yes to whatever it is, but I’ll give you a chance,” He says as he turns the Impala off.

“You’re actually willing to listen to what I have to say? You’re growing…” He scratches his bearded chin and sighs.

“I know Lucifer killed my brother, I felt his grace release from his vessel. I went to where it happened Dean and Lucifer was still there. I know my brothers. They didn’t truly want to fight, yet I had the impression that Gabriel had decided to stay out of it. Clearly you got him into this mess. I need you to get him back.” Michael said firmly and Dean just stared at him like he was crazy.

“How the hell am I supposed to save Gabriel? He’s dead!” Dean said indignantly, but Michael glared at him now.

“You got my brother killed, you OWE him. He’s stuck in his own Hell. I can’t get through to him to pull him out of it and bring him back. He refuses to have anything to do with me, but you…He like you, he’ll let you in, subconsciously or not you’ll be able to get in. Please Dean, help me get my brother back to the land of the living,” Michael said, going from hard toned to sounding quietly desperate at once. Yet he was right. Dean owed Gabriel…He needed to get him back.

“Fine, I’ll do it. For Gabriel, not you,” He said quietly and Michael smiled.

“Good, now like I said it is quite literally a Hell for Gabriel, he will experience death repeatedly, unless you can save him from it. You have as long as you need. The moment you keep him from dying in any of the realities he’ll be forced to go through, he’ll be able to come back.” And with that Michael pressed two fingers to Dean’s forehead and next thing Dean knows, he’s laying in grass and it’s raining…

“Dean?” Cam a surprised voice and a hand comes into sight and Dean grabs it, finding himself lifted up by a soaked Gabriel.

“Hey Gabriel,” Dean breathed as he looks around and he sees they are in a field full of people. He realized what kind of field it is when he sees the black eyes of demons across from them and sees and hears the swords of angels behind them. Gabriel and Dean are in the middle. It was a battlefield. At the head of the angels was…

“The hell?” Dean said with wide eyes as he saw well him at the head of the angelic army, spinning a sword in his hands and wearing deep blue clothes, and a white dress shirt. Dean instantly knew it wasn’t him really that it was Michael even as he looked to the head of the demonic army stood Sam…but no, it was Lucifer.

“You have to chose a side, Gabriel!” Michael yelled from his spot. Gabriel looked torn as both Lucifer and Michael started yelling at him and even Raphael was there yelling to him. Gabriel was holding his own sword and his hand was shaking. Dean looked to Gabriel and put a hand on his shoulder, squeezing it. He saw Gabriel look to him, eyes searching his.

“It’s your choice, Gabriel, not theirs,” Dean said softly and Gabriel looked away and went further away from Dean and to the center of the field and looked to both.

“I don’t chose anyone. After all, you assmonkeys have already destroyed humanity. What do I have left? No. I refuse to see you two fight!” He yelled and he gripped his sword and pointed it towards himself.
“NO!” Dean yelled as he ran for Gabriel as the archangel stabbed himself with it and exploded in a blast of grace.

Dean went through five, maybe six different realities with the archangel, trying to get to him in time to keep from getting killed or killing himself. He found it was getting increasingly harder with every passing reality. He was just now running to try and save Gabriel as Dean as Michael stabbed Gabriel through the heart for defying heaven and choosing the humans…

The scene shifted again and Dean found himself looking around an apartment of a bachelor and he saw Gabriel come out of it, closing and locking the door and he went past Dean and down the stairs, not seeming to recognize Dean as he was dressed in that Janitor uniform that Dean remembered him being in when they first met. Dean followed him and actually watched the events of tall tales play out and then it actually went through all the times Dean had seen Gabriel and Gabriel him, up until he saw the confrontation between Lucifer and Gabriel and when he saw The real Gabriel appear Dean actually tackled him to the ground and Gabriel looked shocked as Dean dragged Gabriel under the table.

“Dean? What…? What are you doing you’re supposed to be taking Kali to safety!” He hisses still seeming to be in complete shock.

“Don’t worry about it!” Dean hisses, the doppelganger stalling for time, he knew that.

“If you try to stab him, you will die, he knows that the Gabriel he’s talking to is a fake. I suggest you high tail it out of here. You can’t kill him. Not here, not now. Please…I don’t want to see you die again, not because of what I told you,” He says softly and Gabriel blinks at him as the entire reality flickers but Gabriel and Dean.
“You mean this all…it’s…?”

“You own personal hell,” Dean said sadly and Gabriel frowned at him.

“Then how are you here? Or are you just another part of this?” Gabriel asked, swallowing, Dean could see doubts in Gabriel’s eyes.

“I’m here because of Michael...and I’m not a figment of your imagination or I would have flickered with everything else here.” Dean said, “and I don’t want you to be dead because I convinced you to stand up to Lucifer with no real plan…” He says softly. Gabriel looks him over and Dean holds out his hand.

“Come on, I don’t want to keep seeing you die because I couldn’t get it to stop,” He says and Gabriel takes his hand and there’s a blinding flash of light and Dean appears next to Gabriel’s body, grabbing the sword and pulling it out of Gabriel, glancing back to see Michael standing there, Lucifer gone. Gabriel was gasping for breath, his eyes open as he groaned and pressed his hand to his wound and he grabbed Dean’s arm with the other and Dean blinked when he felt like he was being drained of energy.

“Gabriel, stop!” He yelps and Michael comes forward and kneels down next to Gabriel and heals him, Gabriel letting go of Dean.

“Michael…You’re here…” He muttered and Michael lifted Gabriel up and pulled him into a hug. Dean smiles at the brotherly bonding going on in front of him.

“Lucifer told me what you said…I don’t hold your choice against you. You always did have a stronger…feel of compassion for humanity,” Michael says and Dean smiles and leaves the room, watching as they stayed in the hug for a moment and then Dean went on his way out the door to see the Impala there with Sam out cold in the back and Dean got in, started the car and drove off.
